One of the world’s biggest soccer tournaments begins today, and you can bet there will be viewers in Arlington.
Euro 2024 will kick off beginning with Germany vs. Scotland at 3 p.m. Matches will be held almost daily — scheduled for 9 a.m., noon and 3 p.m. eastern — leading up to July 14’s final.

A robbery suspect led police on a bike and then a foot chase Tuesday afternoon.
The incident started with a robbery of the Target store on N. Glebe Road in Ballston around 3:15 p.m. The suspect allegedly pushed an employee to the ground and then fled on a bicycle, with the stolen goods in tow.
Officers located the suspect on Carlin Springs Road and tried to stop him, but he continued on the bike before getting off and running from officers who gave chase on foot.

A race and a music festival will close roads in two Arlington neighborhoods this weekend.

Arlington is poised to accept $18 million in funding for a pedestrian bridge connecting Crystal City to Reagan National Airport.
A funding allocation from the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority is slated for consideration at an Arlington County Board meeting this Saturday. Construction on the project, dubbed the CC2DCA multimodal connection, is expected to begin in Fiscal Year 2028.
