Christy Brown was born #OnThisDay 5 June 1932. Brown was a writer and painter whose cerebral palsy allowed him to write or type only with the toes of one foot. His autobiography titled 'My Left Foot' was made into a 1989 Academy Award-winning film of the same name, starring Daniel Day-Lewis as Brown.In 2014, the National Library of Ireland acquired an archive of material relating to the work of Brown. The Library purchased the archive jointly with the The Little Museum of Dublin. The acquisition was made possible through financial support provided by an Irish company, Direct Medical.
