Where's the MSM on this story? Where's the outrage? Protests?

Oh, that's right. Christians and Jews are the only groups it's OK to speak out against nowadays.

Kudos to Marvel for disciplining the guy, but it begs the question - how did this make it through an editorial review to begin with? My guess, Marvel - a company that has recently abandoned every single one of its established characters (Spiderman, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, etc.) in the name of political correctness and diversity - was on board with the idea until all of the social media backlash.

and Stan Lee is Jewish...

Marvel tried re-inventing a bunch of their comics by replacing characters that have been around for 50 years with black, gay, Muslim, chicks. when sales tanked they blamed it on the readers not liking diversity.

Thor is now a chic
Spider-Man and Capt America are now black
Iron Man turned into a black girl
Hulk is an Asian dude
Wolverine is a chic
Ms. Marvel is a Muslim

create new characters and new stories. don't take a 50+ year old established character and pander to the SJW and PC crowd. the same people pissed about the above changes would be equally pissed if Disney announced a Lando Calrissian movie staring Chris Evans, or a Shawshank remake with Red played by Sean Connery. it's not about racism and diversity. it's about blatantly obvious pandering to the vocal MINORITY.

Pandering is a good word for what they've done. Want more diverse characters? Create some, with their own identities and backgrounds. Don't take established characters/stories and just and change their skin color, religion, or sex. It's lazy, and, frankly, insulting to the very people you are trying to represent.

Let me preface this by saying the artist in the OP is garbage, and I'm glad his career is over.

As for the rest of the garbage in the thread...

  • Thor has had multiple human identities, the latest one happens to be a woman.
  • There have actually been two black Captain Americas. In addition to those two, multiple others have assumed the identity other than Steve Rogers.
  • Spider-Man has switched bodies with Doctor Octopus, has been cloned, and even had the mantle taken over my J. Jonah Jameson's niece.
  • Wolverine is supposedly dead. Another established character who has been around since 2004, also part of the Weapon X program, took over the mantle. It's not like it was a random change, either.
  • The Hulk is now Amadeus Cho, another character who has been around since 2005. He actually saved Bruce Banner by absorbing the Hulk. There has also been another person to take on the role in the past as well. Not to mention to other colored Hulks.
  • Ms. Marvel is now Captain Marvel, so someone had to take over that role. They chose to go a new route, so YMMV.
  • The Iron Man one is stupid, I'll give you that.

While some comic book characters have remained the same identity since their inception, many more have had others take on the role. To call it pandering, for the most part, is intellectually lazy.

I would ask the folks complaining about it... do you read all the books you are bitching about, or did you just pull up an article on one of your right wing sites that ranted about "DEM DER BROWN PEOPLE/WOMEN ARE TAKIN' MY CORMICS"?

no, but i read/watch financial news and know that Marvel tanked in Oct/Nov. DC passed them in sales for the first time in a long time. Marvel's VP of sales blamed it on the recent "diversity" changes.

but yea, I guess according to sales figures the majority of comic readers are "right wing nut jobs that hate brown people".

because it is not possible to disagree with "x" without being a racist...

Kung-Fu Panda is a black character (with white spots) played by a white voice (Jack Black). But since his last name is "Black," I think it all equals out.

Nope, I'm not touching that one. The Jamaican will screenshot it and tweet it to my athletic director in a few years.

"whitewashing" an Asian character with Tom Cruise or Matt Damon or John Wayne or some other big name star to make hundreds of millions of dollars instead of using unknown Asian actor and making millions of dollars.

completely motivated by racism...

now, can you answer my question?

It's like whenever speaks with you about race, it's only a Black and White thing. Whitewashing covers all races.

You don't want a pity party. Look at the people who get pitied. Be thankful you aren't them. Pity is no damn good. It's a con game to get people to believe they're not able to do anything.

as i posted above, "whitewashing" unknown Asian actor for Tom Cruise is a $$$$$ thing. it has absolutely nothing to do with race. since there are a significant amount of "well known" African American actors if you were able to post an example in which a black character was "whitewashed" then we could bring this discussion back to racism.

again, can you give an example?
